Amazon KDP Income Report March 2024

After a disappointing month in February, my KDP earnings has bounced back up this month! It’s a bit higher than January’s income, but nowhere near last year’s March as you’ll see below.

So far, this year has been different as compared to last year. Overall, my royalties is a lot lower this year because there’s a difference in royalties now, coupled with lower sales. Amazon has increased their printing costs last June, which in turn affects my royalties.

I expected March to have lower sales. But I am pleasantly surprised that this month is my highest month so far.

Let’s get into my KDP royalities for this month.

March 2024 Income Report – With No Ads

My KDP income for this month is up 34.8% from February’s royalties! It’s a bit higher than January’s earnings.

Highest day: $25.89

Lowest day: $0

94.3% comes from the US marketplace, which makes up the bulk of my royalties. 4.2% comes from the UK marketplace, and 1.5% from Canada.

There are a few spikes this month. The spike worth mentioning happened on 3 March, which I’ll talk about in a bit.

My Top-Selling Books

37 books out of the 1,141 total books I have published contributed to this month’s earnings. This works out to be 3.24% of my total books sold this month.

#1 best-selling book this month is a book in a specific children’s niche, which brought in 22.8% of my KDP income. This book, which has been my #2 since it was published in January 2021, has knocked my #1 out of its place to claim the top spot. I’m building a brand for this author name and am happy to say that I’ve finished building a website! We’ll see how this brand building goes.

My #2 best-seller for this month is a book in the Easter niche. Easter falls on March 31 this year and as this day is approaching, this Easter-themed book started selling. As far as I remember, this book did not sell as well until this year. It brought in 14.3% of my total royalties this month.

My #3 best-selling book for this month goes to a book in the children’s niche. This all-time #1 best-seller has lost its foothold and slipped to the third spot. This book was published in April 2020 and brought in 12.3% of my total KDP earnings this month.

Any surprises this month?

Firstly, I did not expect my Easter-themed book to be in the top 3 this month. It usually does sell around this time of the year, but nothing to write home about.

Secondly, my all-time #1 best-seller in the children’s niche for a long time, has lost its steam and placed no. 3 this month.

Thirdly, one planner in a specific career niche sold in bulk on March 3 and accounted for the spike that day. This planner was published in September 2019. It features a funny quote on the front cover and is perfect as a gift.

What I Made in March 2023 – With No Ads (In Comparison)

This March’s income is down by almost 3 times compared to last March! Last year’s has more consistent high days while this year is more erractic. What accounted for this big difference in my royalties is my #1 best-seller in the children’s niche as you’ll see below.

Out of the 471 total number of books sold last March, I sold 374 nos. of my #1 best-selling book in the children’s niche. That’s 79.4% of my total books sold!

It’s a huge contrast compared to this month. This same book accounted for 24 out of 142 total books sold, which is 16.9% of the total sales. Overall sales has dipped significantly as well.
