Amazon KDP Income Report April 2024
After an increase last month, my KDP income for this month has dropped. It’s even lower than the earnings reported in February, which makes this month the worst performing month ever since I started low content publishing in July 2019.
As if February wasn’t disappointing enough, this April is far worse than February’s. And it’s a lot lower than last April as you’ll see below.
I know I’ve been talking about this, but it’s time to ramp things up! I am still working on a book in the children;s niche. I know.. I know.. I’ve been talking about this for the longest time. Procrastination is my biggest enemy!
After I get the book published, I’ll promote this book using Amazon advertising. And we’ll see how that goes.
I have not advertised any of my books thus far. So I am a bit nervous about this.
April 2024 Income Report – With No Ads
My KDP earning this month is down 40.4% from March’s earnings and it’s the lowest since I started self-publishing.
Highest day: $17.29
Lowest day: $0.44 (There are a few $0 days, so I am not going to report those as my lowest days.)
88.7% comes from the US marketplace, which makes up the bulk of my royalties. 5.2% comes from the Canada marketplace, 3.4% comes from UK, and 1.3% comes from Italy and Netherlands.
As you can see from the graph above, this month has been a bit of a roller-coaster ride with a few spikes and $0 days. The spikes have launched some of my books into the top 3 best-selling status, which I’ll talk about in a bit.
My Top-Selling Books
34 books out of the 1,141 total books I have published contributed to this month’s earnings. This works out to be 2.98% of my total books sold this month.
My #1 best-seller has come back up from #3 in March 2024, to reclaim its top position this month! It is a book in the children’s niche which was published in April 2020. It brought in 25.87% of my total KDP royalties this month.
#2 best-selling book this month is a planner in a specific career niche. This book sold in bulk on April 2, which explains the spike on that day. This book was published in December 2019 and it brought in 8.42% of my total earnings this month.
My #3 best-seller is a notebook in a specific career niche. It was published in June 2020 and does sell well for me occasionally. It brought in 7.56% of my total royalties this month.
Any surprises this month?
Firstly, I did not expect my #2 and #3 best-sellers to top the chart. Thanks in part to the bulk orders someone placed.
Secondlhy, my usual long-standing #2 best-seller in the children’s niche has dropped off the chart.
What I Made in April 2023 – With No Ads (In Comparison)
This April’s income is down by almost 4 times compared to last April! Last year’s is more consistent as compared to this year’s which has more ups and downs. What accounted for this big difference in my royalties is my #1 best-seller in the children’s niche as you’ll see below.
Out of the 449 total number of books sold last April, I sold 342 nos. of my #1 best-selling book in the children’s niche. That’s 76.2% of my total books sold!
It’s a huge contrast compared to this month. This same children’s book accounted for 31 out of 102 total books sold, which is 30.4% of the total sales. Overall sales has dipped significantly.
